Creating CHM Help File
Creating CHM help file from Word document with Macrobject Word-2-CHM is very easy, just in three simple steps:
Run Macrobject Word-2-CHM.
Select the existing Word document.
Click the “Create CHM File” button.
Preparing Word Document
Please prepare your Word document before creating CHM help file with Macrobject Word-2-CHM. It is time to write your Word document now if you don't have one. Please use proper chapter structure (outline) in your Word document, Word-2-CHM will create the table of contents of the CHM file according to it. If you already have a Word document, then congratulations! You will get your CHM help file in the next a few seconds.
Selecting Word Document
First, run Macrobject Word-2-CHM:
Second, click the “Browse” button next to the “Source Word File” textbox, and then select your Word file.
Word-2-CHM will fill the “Output CHM File” field and the “Title of CHM File” field automatically after you have selected a Word file.
Next, you may want to enter your copyright message that will be appearing in every page as footprint in the CHM file. You may use either HTML tags or plain text in the copyright message, which depends on your requirements. The copyright message cannot be modified with an unregistered copy of Word-2-CHM.
Generating CHM File
Ok, let's create the CHM file by click the “Create CHM File” button at the bottom of the Word-2-CHM window:
You will get your CHM help file after a few seconds. The length of time it costs depends on the size of the source Word file. You may click the “View CHM File” button to view the CHM file you have created just now.
Options
There are many options you can selecting while creating a CHM file.
Show chapter number: Show chapter number in the topic tree.
Show header: Header of the Word document as header of the page.
Show footer: Footer of the Word document as footer of the page.
Show navigator: Show navigator in the page.
Show related topics: Create hyperlinks of the related topics at the end of page.
Add index entry: Add index entry to the index of the CHM file.
Cross-reference to hyperlink: Convert cross-references into hyperlinks.

Regenerating CHM File
You may modify your Word documents now and then, and you can save a Word-2-CHM project file for each Word document so that you don't need to fill the information again when you create CHM file next time.
Saving Word-2-CHM Project
Current settings can be saved into a Word-2-CHM project file by click the “Save” button on the toolbar.
Opening Word-2-CHM Project
You can click the “Open” button on the toolbar to open a saved Word-2-CHM project file.
Using Command Line
You can use Word-2-CHM command line when you need Word-2-CHM to create CHM file automatically for you in batch file, or in scheduled task, etc. The command line of Word-2-CHM is as below:
Word-2-CHM.exe /pFile=project.word2chm [/pAuto=1] [/pOverwrite=1]
or
project.word2chm [/pAuto=1] [/pOverwrite=1]
comments:
/pFile=project.word2chm: The Word-2-CHM project file you want to open.
/pAuto=1: Create the CHM file automatically and then close Word-2-CHM.
/pOverwrite=1: Overwirte existing CHM file without prompts.
Working with Security Software
A connection to Microsoft Word is required by Word-2-CHM while loading a Word document. The connection may be blocked by the anti-virus plug-in for Microsoft Office or other security software. Word-2-CHM can not open the Word document while the connection to Microsoft Word is been blocked.
Two solutions are available when Word-2-CHM fails to open the Word document.
Solution I: Open the Word document in Microsoft Word and save it as “Web File”.
Solution II: Temporary disabled the anti-virus plug-in or the security software.

Solution I: Open the Word document in Microsoft Word and save it as “Web File”.
You may choose to open the Word document manual and save it as “Web File” as the picture showing below. Please note: Do not save it as “Single File Web Page” or “Web Page, Filtered”.
Then you can open the saved “Web File” by click the “Browse” button next to the “Source Word File” textbox in Word-2-CHM and convert it to CHM file as showing below.
Solution II
Solution II: Temporary disabled the anti-virus plug-in or the security software.
Also you can choose to temporary disabled the anti-virus plug-in for Microsoft Office or the security software and try again.

FAQ
Q: Error while loading Word document: “Call was rejected by callee”, “Command failed”, “The RPC server is unavailable”, etc.
A: Connection to Microsoft Word may be blocked by the anti-virus plug-in for Microsoft Office or other security software. Please see “Working with Security Software” for solution.
Q: Error while loading Word document: “Invalid class string, ProgID:'Word.Application'”
A: Microsoft Word 2000 or higher is either not installed or not installed properly. Please see “Working with Security Software” if you do have Microsoft Word installed.
Registering Word-2-CHM
Word-2-CHM is a sort of shareware. You can try it before you buy. Please note that the content of some pages are ignored by the unregistered copy of Word-2-CHM. Please enter your registration information into Word-2-CHM in order to use all the features of it.
To finish registration, just click the “Register” button on the toolbar, and then enter the correct user name, e-mail address, serial No. in the registration dialog, and then click the “Ok” button.
Your name will be showed in “About” dialog when register successful.
End User License Agreement
Before you use Macrobject Word-2-CHM 3.0 software, please read this agreement. You may use this software only as described in this license.
1. SOFTWARE
