This paper proposes a novel image mosaic method based on SIFT (Scale Invariant Feature Transform) feature of line segment, aiming to resolve incident scaling, rotation, changes in lighting condition, and so on between two images in the panoramic image mosaic process.

To gain the wide view angle and high resolution image stitched by the sequence images overlapped in the same scene, this paper proposes a new image mosaic method of combining the improved SIFT algo- rithm with Canny feature edge detection based on the traditional scale invariant feature transform (SIFT) algorithm.

Virtual reality technology has been widely used in the fields of aerospace, robotics remote operation and biology medicine and so on. Panoramic image mosaic is one of the very important parts. Since photographs taken by the ordinary camera may appear distorted, over- lapping and tilting, we propose a wide mosaic algorithm used in the projection transformation in this paper.
